One Day Olive Oil Courses

29 January 2020 by Judy Ridgway

Thanks to popular request I am continuing my one day olive oil tasting and appreciation courses in London and Brighton in 2020.  The next courses in London will be held on Tuesday 18th February and Friday 27th March.  Brighton dates are open to negotiation anytime between now and late April.

I keep the classes fairly small so that everyone can join in – varies from four to eight. The course usually starts at 10.00am and finishes around 4.00-4.30pm.  A light lunch is included.

If you are interested in one of these dates please let me know and I will put you on the list and let you know when the class is closing.  At that time I will require full payment for the course.   Contact me at judyridgway@btinternet.com.  This is a better address for me than my oficial www.jridgway@oliveoil.org.uk

The courses cover the following topics but there is provision for specific items to be included on request:
What is the difference between extra virgin and olive oil?
Standards for extra virgin olive oil
How to taste and what to look for?
Faulty oils and how to recognize them
Describing olive oils
Concept of style in olive oil
Specific flavour characteristicsThe chemistry of olive oil and nutrition
Origins, designations and labelling
Importance of varieties, cultivation and harvest time
How olive oil is made
Olive oil in the shop and in the home

The fee for the course on 18th February is £185.00.  From March this price will be increased to £200 (No VAT).  The fee includes around 12 oils from different parts of the olive oil world and some faulty samples from the International Olive Council as well as a light lunch.
